Some buyers grade missing material in 25% increments. That can mean a converter missing only 10% gets priced as though 25% is gone.

At Rock Island Recycling, we grade missing material in 5% increments because we believe smaller deductions provide a more precise assessment. You shouldn’t lose a quarter of your converter’s value when only a tenth of its material is missing.

Not every converter leaves the factory completely full. Some are designed with material occupying approximately one-quarter, one-half, or three-quarters of the housing.
